"Positively Me" Art Project
We’ll take care of the teaching—just bring the materials!
Service Description
In this creative and reflective workshop, participants will design a self-portrait that highlights their favourite personal features and qualities—both physical and non-physical. Using a provided outline of a head and shoulders as a starting point, they’ll have the freedom to draw, write, or paint representations of what makes them feel proud, unique, and confident. Whether they sketch their smile, write empowering words as hair, or use abstract colours to express inner beauty, the goal is self-celebration and self-expression. After the art activity, participants will engage in a guided discussion on how gender norms and beauty standards influence our self-image and inner voice—and how we can learn to challenge those messages in order to build self-esteem and self-compassion. Supplies needed: markers, coloured pencils, watercolour paints Ideal for: youth in community centres, camps, libraries, or after-school programs
