Service Description

In this creative and conversation-based workshop, participants will decorate compact mirrors — not just as a fun art activity, but as a powerful symbol of how we see ourselves. As we design and personalize our mirrors, we’ll open up an honest discussion about how social media influences our sense of self, self-worth, and the beauty standards we’re exposed to every day. Together, we will: Explore the term body image and what it means for both girls and boys Identify how social media — including filters, likes, influencers, and algorithms — shapes unrealistic beauty expectations Discuss the emotional and mental impact of comparison culture and online validation Learn what a healthy body image looks like and why it's different from striving for perfection Reflect on what makes our bodies strong, capable, and worthy just as they are This session is about reclaiming the way we see ourselves. We’ll challenge toxic norms, celebrate our individuality, and leave with a mirror that reflects more than appearance — it reflects self-acceptance, confidence, and truth. Supplies needed: compact mirrors & decorative items (beads, charms, etc.) Don't have mirrors in the budget? No problem! Reach out to education@haltonwomensplace.com to learn of more options. Ideal for: youth in community centres, camps, libraries, or after-school programs
