Service Description

A 4-week series for male-identified students in Grades 9-12. Over 4 sessions, through conversation and interactive activities, students will be encouraged to investigate their assumptions about masculinity and where these ideas come from. They will explore topics like stereotypes and bullying, the influence of music, sports and the media, discuss the concepts of healthy masculinity and role models, and come away with an understanding of how unhealthy attitudes can lead to unhealthy behaviours. The purpose of this series is to enable young boys to become critical thinkers, give them the knowledge and strategies they can need to avoid the trappings of gender stereotypes, and help them become positive leaders amongst their peers. By empowering men and boys to become advocates and male allies, they can be leaders in building safer communities.
