Beads & Beliefs
We’ll take care of the teaching—just bring the materials!
Service Description
In this creative and empowering activity, kids will make their own jewelry or keychains while exploring important conversations about beauty standards, gender norms, and stereotypes they see in media, online, and in everyday life. As they bead and design, we’ll talk about questions like: Who decides what’s “beautiful”? What messages do we get about how boys and girls should look or act? How can we celebrate what makes each of us unique? Through hands-on creativity and open discussion, kids will build not only fun accessories—but also stronger self-esteem, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for who they are and who they can be. Supplies needed: beads, string/thread, and anything else you need to make the jewelry/key chains you want! Ideal for: Summer Camps, After school programs, Libraries, Community Centers
